It's surreal when a tragic event that happened near you is referenced in a popular novel, by one of your favorite authors。 It makes you realize the impact it has on other people from around the country & not just your own community。 The shooting incident on January 8th 2011, that killed Federal Judge John Roll, along with 5 others, & wounded 13 (including AZ Sen。 Gabrielle Giffords) and will never be forgotten。 🙏🏼 It's surreal when a tragic event that happened near you is referenced in a popular novel, by one of your favorite authors。 It makes you realize the impact it has on other people from around the country & not just your own community。 The shooting incident on January 8th 2011, that killed Federal Judge John Roll, along with 5 others, & wounded 13 (including AZ Sen。 Gabrielle Giffords) and will never be forgotten。 🙏🏼 。。。more

A really good follow up from Pieces of Her; the mystery was gripping and kept me invested; enjoyed this one。

I was not expecting another book about Andrea Oliver after Pieces of Her。 。 This book was a pleasant surprise。 I enjoyed seeing more of her story。 Andrea becomes a US Marshal and is sent on her first assignment protecting a judge that has been receiving death threats。 She finds herself embroiled in a 40 year old cold case of a 17 year old murdered girl。 Andrea finds herself learning the secrets in this small town。 Once again Slaughter creates a page turning thriller that keeps you guessing until I was not expecting another book about Andrea Oliver after Pieces of Her。 。 This book was a pleasant surprise。 I enjoyed seeing more of her story。 Andrea becomes a US Marshal and is sent on her first assignment protecting a judge that has been receiving death threats。 She finds herself embroiled in a 40 year old cold case of a 17 year old murdered girl。 Andrea finds herself learning the secrets in this small town。 Once again Slaughter creates a page turning thriller that keeps you guessing until the last page。 The characters in the town have so many secrets and connections to the past that will make your head spin in classic Karin Slaughter fashion。 It is a solid mystery and one of her best。 The pacing and narration were very good for the audiobook。Thank you to NetGalley for the audio version in exchange for an honest review。#NetGalley #KarinSlaughter #Girl,Forgotten4。5 ⭐️ 。。。more

Great thriller。 Definitely kept me guessing。 I enjoyed reconnecting with Andy and watching her grow。 At first it was tricky keeping track of the clique members who seemed to run together character-wise。 Not quite as good as the first in the series but definitely worth the read

This is the first Karin Slaughter book I have read。 The characters were well developed and I became vested in their situations。 I kept trying (and failing) at determining who Killed Emily Vaughn。

Brittany Hernandez

Slow beginning, but very easy to follow and lots of twists and turns!

Megan Jasko

It actually pains me to give a Karin Slaughter book only 3 stars。 This sequel was not her typical fast-paced, twisty thriller。

I loved this book much more than Pieces of Her! Andrea finally becomes an enjoyable character rather than an insipid, victimized wimp。 I enjoyed the connection between the current case, the past mystery of Emily’s death, and Clayton Morrow。 Characters in this book were so vividly developed and the plot was solid。 Thanks to Karin Slaughter for another great read and to Harper Collins Publishers for the advanced copy! @slaughterkarin @WmMorrowBooks

I recently finished Pieces of Her and decided to pick this up next since it is out TODAY! 🥳I am not a fan of the long chapters, but the story was intriguing enough that I was able to push that aside to keep reading。The story itself was well done。 I was guessing up until the last 20 pages “who killed Emily?”。 I’m hoping we get more Andrea Oliver books 🥰

I didn’t care for the writing。 It was predictable and at times cheesy。 The story kept me curious。 It has a lot of heavy/dark content。

A Girl Forgotten is book #2 of the Andrea Oliver series and it was a 5 ⭐️ for me。 I chose to listen to this book on audio and it was narrated by Kathleen Early。 She narrated book #1 also and was excellent。 I’m really excited because I believe we’re going to have a book #3! Yay! You can read this as a stand-alone if you’re wondering but book #1 was really good and I suggest reading it as well。 It was well written and cleverly told it kept me glued to my seat。 There’s mystery and suspense througho A Girl Forgotten is book #2 of the Andrea Oliver series and it was a 5 ⭐️ for me。 I chose to listen to this book on audio and it was narrated by Kathleen Early。 She narrated book #1 also and was excellent。 I’m really excited because I believe we’re going to have a book #3! This book was way better than Pieces of Her, loved it!

3。5。 Loved Pieces of Her so I was excited about the series continuing。 This one felt a bit disjointed though。 Almost like it was just a bridge to a longer series about Andy and her father。 I’ll still keep reading these but hope the next one is better。

Omfg seriously go get the book! Had me guessing until the very end!! 🤯

I love Karin Slaughter and I liked this book about Andrea。 I love that she is now a U。S。 Marshall。 I think we will have several books about Andrea and her mom, Laura & her psychopathic father, Clay。

Great follow up to Pieces of Her, focusing on AndyGreat new character, strong female lead, with good supporting charactersInteresting story line, that ties Andy to it personally Hope this also is made into a series and that there is another book to follow

I really enjoyed this one: a forty year old unsolved murder case, a judge receiving death threats and unsavoury happenings on a nearby farm make for a great story。 Add to that some memorable characters and you get a 4。5 star book。

I’ve read a couple of books by Karin Slaughter in the past and I wasn’t terribly impressed, but the description of this novel intrigued me enough to buy it and I’m certainly glad I did。 I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough and it kept me up a couple nights long past my usual bedtime。Apparently, this is the second book in a series。 I wasn’t aware of that when I purchased the book, so for part of the story I wondered who some of the characters were。 I was eventually able to put (most) of the piec I’ve read a couple of books by Karin Slaughter in the past and I wasn’t terribly impressed, but the description of this novel intrigued me enough to buy it and I’m certainly glad I did。 I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough and it kept me up a couple nights long past my usual bedtime。Apparently, this is the second book in a series。 I wasn’t aware of that when I purchased the book, so for part of the story I wondered who some of the characters were。 I was eventually able to put (most) of the pieces together though and this is certainly okay to read as a stand-alone book, although reading the former would be somewhat helpful。 Slaughter wrapped this story up nicely at the end, but also left the reader with the impression this may not be the last we will see of US Marshal Andrea Oliver。 I certainly hope we do。 Strongly recommended。 。。。more

Karin Slaughter’s books are always amazing to read。 It kept me guessing, pondering and wondering as an amateur armchair sleuth! This is another one of her must read! This novel with dual timeline periods basically had me stuck in time。 The plots that happened back in the 1980s are still the same issues we see in our current 21st century。 Emily’s, the naive victim, death opened up many issues and discussions that are still ubiquitous and rampant。 The thrill to find the suspect(s) is even better。 E Karin Slaughter’s books are always amazing to read。 It kept me guessing, pondering and wondering as an amateur armchair sleuth! As of late, the thriller/mystery genre has left me feeling so unsatisfied, underwhelmed, and frustrated。 I didn't have much hope, going into the spooky season, that I'd find many five-star reads。 Many of my recent reads have been redundant in plot or in concept, and overdone in the worst, try-hard kind of way。Enter: Karin SlaughterI。 Am。 OBSESSED! with Karin Slaughter's writing style。 This was my first K。S。 novel and I can already tell she isn't a cookie-cutter thriller author。 I have already ad As of late, the thriller/mystery genre has left me feeling so unsatisfied, underwhelmed, and frustrated。 I didn't have much hope, going into the spooky season, that I'd find many five-star reads。 Many of my recent reads have been redundant in plot or in concept, and overdone in the worst, try-hard kind of way。Enter: Karin SlaughterI。 Am。 OBSESSED! with Karin Slaughter's writing style。 This was my first K。S。 novel and I can already tell she isn't a cookie-cutter thriller author。 I have already added her to my auto-buy author list。 My Amazon cart has much of her backlist。 It's officially, I'm a fan。This book is layered, dynamic, and both well written and well narrated。 The plot was original, the red herrings were perfectly subtle, the reveal was unexpected but was not impossible or unreasonable, and the reader isn't left yelling at the main character for overlooking obvious clues。 The duel timeline was impeccably presented, and the two first-person POVs contrasted so well that they truly felt like two different people。 Both of these writing techniques can make a book fall flat if not executed well。 And the narrator, Kathleen Early。。。 Bravo。 Truly。 Have you ever listened to an audiobook where you had to take a break, not because of the story, but because of the narrator's voice? I have (*cough cough* A Court of Silver Flames!!!! *gag*)。 This narrator, however, left me enjoying this book at home, at work, while driving, at the gym, and while grocery shopping。 I could listen to her all day! I'll surely be looking for her other work going forward。 If you haven't read a Karin Slaughter novel, the time is now。 Get the audiobook!Thank you, Netgalley, for giving me the opportunity to read and review this novel prior to publishing in exchange for an honest review 🤍 。。。more

5 starsLove all Karin Slaughters books and this one was no exception。 Told in the past by Emily。 A young high school girl with a group of friends who may not be the best for her。 In the present is Andreas pov。 A US Marshall who comes to Emily's town and discovers that there's more going on than everyone claims。 The character building was excellent as the story builds to who was actually Emily's friend and who loathed her。 A few twists with a good ending。 If you love KS this is a great suspense。 5 starsLove all Karin Slaughters books and this one was no exception。 Told in the past by Emily。 A young high school girl with a group of friends who may not be the best for her。 In the present is Andreas pov。 A US Marshall who comes to Emily's town and discovers that there's more going on than everyone claims。 The character building was excellent as the story builds to who was actually Emily's friend and who loathed her。 A few twists with a good ending。 If you love KS this is a great suspense。 Highly recommended 。。。more

This book had a bit less action than Slaughter's previous work, but I enjoyed the thorough character development and slow burn of this story very much。 Overall, a fantastic second edition in what I hope to be a longer Andrea Oliver series。 。。。more

A LOT going on with this book。 Graphic details throughout the story。 It took me a minute to get all the characters straight。 For whatever reason the flashback at the beginning really through me off since none of the characters were really introduced yet。
